I am using LabVIEW to communicate with a Eurotherm 2216 temperature controller. I am using this driver to communicate with this device via RS485. While the driver is for Eurotherm's 24xx series of devices, all the functions I am using are compatible with 22xx devices. I am using a USB to RS485 converter.

 

So far, I have confirmed that the RS458 converter is wired correctly to the device, the baud rate and parity are the same in LabVIEW and the device, and I am using the correct instrument address. Despite this, I am consistently getting the error 0xBFFF0015, "timeout expired before operation could be completed" at the VISA Read command. This suggests to me that the device is not sending any data back. As I am new to instrument control, I don't know what the problem might be and would appreciate any help. Thank you!

I am working on a school project for work experience. I am using the Keithley 2182A Nanovoltmeter and I need to find a way to get the data onto a PC. I have never worked with Keithley products before so I am very new to this. My University does not have LabView, so I have to figure out a method to bypass that. I have a GPIB to connect the meter to the PC and I was thinking I could either use MatLab or PyVisa software to work. I've also downloaded the VISA software from the NI website. Does anyone know if these methods would work with the Keithley 2182A Nanovoltmeter? I looked at many forums on how to do this with those two software but I'm not sure if this instrument is capable of connecting to those softwares. For MatLab, we have the instructional use version so I'm not sure if it has the Instrument Control Toolbox. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi , im a student frome Taiwan.Im working on school project,that is instrument control.

2611B-L(LITE) source meter keithley that is the instrument model.

when i use NI MAX to test 2611b-l,the command 'IDN?' it response correctly  like "Keithley\sInstruments\sInc.,\sModel\s2611B-L,\sxxxxxxx,\sx.x.x\n.

But in python visa i send some command like "measure?" or "system:error?"

,it awlays response  timeout expired before operation completed.

Base on the above situation i think  2611b-l can not read scpi command.

Seeks for advice modestly or tell me my guess is true.or some cause i did not get .

PCにインストールしたシーケンス編集ソフトウェア（SEQ_Edit）を使って

ファンクションジェネレータWF1974の操作を行いたい．

使用するPCはwindows10の62bit版．

PCにVISAドライバ（NI VISA 19.0）をインストールした後，PCとWF1974をUSB接続したが，

デバイスドライバソフトウェアが正しくインストールされないためか，

PCとWF1974が接続できない．

VISAドライバが正しくインストールできていないのでしょうか．

VISA Run-time Engine は Ver4.6.2以上をダウンロードするように，と説明書に記載があったのですが．．．

I have a project should pulse a current at 500 micro second  and measure voltage and current.

I use PulseIMeasureV function and it only measures voltage .

does any method that i can also measure current at 500 micro second pulse ?

Hello, Hopefully someone here knows the solution, which may be hardware, but I don't know. 

 

I have two Ohaus digital weight scales that I need to plot data from simultaneously via RS-232. My biggest issue is that one scale works fine, and plots the change in weight in real time, whereas the other, there is a large delay that gets worse over time. 

 

Also, sometimes the scale outputs nothing for multiple loops, which my code reads as zero.

The scale, when it sends nothing, sends two bytes as \r\n. So at minimum, it sends two bytes no matter what. When there is a number, it's 9 bytes. It has a max weight of 8,200 grams and has been set to output numbers only so I don't need to worry about the unit 'g' at all. 

 

Any idea why one works in real-time, but the other builds up a lag?

Sorry if this is the wrong board.

 

I have an instrument which needs to be controlled via a website however I want to be able to automate my use of it via labveiw. Does anyone know of a way to send a command via labveiw to a website to for example push a start/stop button or change a sliders value.

Hi,

 

I have a problem when I try to add a new network device in MAX. I'm trying to connect a Oxford Mercury IPS-M supply (http://mymercurysupport.com/sites/default/files/59_UMC0072_01.pdf) to my computer using TCP/IP (no GPIB port on the supply, no RS232 port on the computer). My computer is saying that the IP adress asciociated to the ethernet port is 192.168.1.2. I have put those parameters on the GUI of the supply (setting -> ethernet) :

IP adress : 192.168.1.2

subnet : 255.255.255.0

gateway : 192.168.1.1

 

The supply seams to be connected, when I do a ping in cmd it works. But when I go in MAX and try : Add Network Device -> VISA TCP/IP Ressources and try manualy entering the IP adress (192.168.1.2) I have this message :

 

"Could not open a VISA session to "TPCIP0::192.168.1.2::INSTR".

 

VISA error code 0xBFFF0011

 

Insufficient location information or the device or ressource is not present in the system"

 

Any idea?

Hi All,

I have a PCB with (Maxim Integrated) MAX17312 IC and I need to communicate with IC through one wire Interface adapter.

Can anyone suggest me which adapter will suits better with this IC and compactible with LabVIEW so that I can read/write and flash the Maxim IC through LabVIEW.

Hi application engineers,

 

I have 4 USB data acquisition devices and want to connect via a 4 port USB hub to my computer. 

 

I had successfully made all 4 devices working together and smooth after many time tries. My labview program  can recognize the 4 devices and run smooth thereafter with no problem. however, it is really difficulty  to get all 4 online again once one or two of the devices are disconnected from the USB hub and reconnected to the USB hub. 

 

I checked port setting on windows control panel,  and also check the ports using NI MAX, both show proper port settings. See included the first image below.

 

My program can populate the 4 ports/ visa resource names (see the left side) after clicked refresh and  were selected properly (see the middle), however, after clicked run program, the visa resource became disconnected as shown on the right side of the second image. I went back to check port settings using windows control panel and NI Max, they were still the same as shown in the first image. 

 

I also tried to reboot computer and start program again, the issue remained. 

 

I do not have such an issue if just connecting one device. 

 

Could someone help me with the issue?

Hello there,

 

My goal of the project is to switch the channel of LED since I will have two solid state relays from a two channel power supply.

 

-Both channel supply 5V DC to the solid state relay. I am able to hook up one channel and supply the 5V to one of the SSR using DAQ assistant. However, my problem is with LabView that I am not too familiar with. I want to switch the LEDs on and off given to control two relays and two LEDs but I was not able to do so using case structure.

 

I have been searching online but was not able to find the examples that are similar to what I am doing. I attached the VI here can someone give me some guidence and direct me in the right direction. Thanks so much for all the help.......

Hi community, I need help, please.

I own an old Test Set R&S badged CMT 54.

I'd like to interface this gear with NI GPIB USB HS but... nothing to do.

I pinpoint that

1. GPIB HS interfaces other instruments successfully

2. NIMAX recognizes the presence of an instrument at the right GPIB address but is unable to send any commands.

 

Does someone have any skill/experience to share?

I am attempting to use RS-485 to communicate with a temperature controller in LabVIEW. Based on the example program for RS-485 communication, I am using a property node to set the wire mode to RS485/Wire2-Auto. However, when I do this, I get the error "Error -1073807330 occurred at Property Node, The specified state of the attribute is not valid, or is not supported as defined by the resource."

 

The LabVIEW help for the wire mode property says that for RS485 hardware, the property is only valid with the RS485 serial driver developed by National Instruments. I assume that's the problem, and that I don't have that. However, I have been unable to figure out where to find a download for this driver, and can find no other reference to its existence apart from this note in the help reference.

 

Does anyone know what this driver is, and how to download/use it? Any help would be appreciated.

Recently, i downloaded the 2182A's driver for labview from the NI page. I tried to make the nanovoltimeter appears in the functions -> express-> input ->instr  drivers (on the block diagram) just like i did with the 622x driver, but i could not make it.Does anybody know what the problem is?

Hi all,

 

I'm using NI8452 for I2C communication. Currently just learning to operate the device and use its LabView driver.

There is a property node of the device for timeout value.

When "Writing" the value, the VI is running without errors.

But when changing the node to "All Read" and trying to read the value of timeout, the VI arrow gets broken, and no error neither warning descriptions appear. 

Why?

I'm trying to install the GPIB_USB driver to my raspberry pi 3 model b. At one time NI made a GPIB interface card for the Digital Equipment Corp.'s Rainbow 100 computer. I cannot find its part number, pictures of it, manuals or software.

Does anybody know how compatible it is with the ISA 8-bit bus version ?

? Does it use an Interrupt and DMA over lay done in logic to emulate the PC'S ISA       peripheral controllers addresses, to make it fully software compatible with the ISA 

counterpart.

..

Giving the age of such a interface, I don not think NI will release data form their archive, if they still even have it.
