MAX does not see PCMCIA-GPIB or GPIB-USB-B

I am using a legacy Windows XP SP3 system with MAX 3.1 and NI-488.2 V2.1. I use either a PCMCIA-GPIB card or a GPIB-USB-B.

 

When logged into an administrator account there are no problems; both devices appear in MAX and in the WIndows device manager.

 

When logged into a user account with limited privileges, the devices appear in the WIndows device manager, but not in MAX, but the VIs and compiled EXEs I user still operate correctly. However, if I convert the user account to an admin account the devices are visible, but this is not a solution because 'Security'.

 

The problem lies within the compiled EXEs as their respective VIs have been lost over time and the address of the PCMCIA or USB interface are hardcoded, and are not the same in all EXEs. I would appreciate any insight you may have.

Agilent 34420, Instrument driver "down rev"

Hi all,

 

Unfortunately I am stuck with Labview 8.0 and need to use Agilent 34420 instrument driver. The versions I found online are not compatible with Labview 8.0. Is there a way to down rev the version and use it? 

 

Is there any other database where I can download older revision of the driver?

iblck release after computer crash or network failure

We are controlling equipment using ENET/1000 devices. The controlling computer has a redundant computer in case the primary fails. We use iblck to protect the bus when the equipment is under active control and need to restore service quickly if the computer fails. We have confirmed that the ENET/1000 does retain the lock after a failure however have not tested the duration of the timeout. How long does an ENET/1000 maintain a lock after it looses connection to the requesting thread and can this timeout be managed in any way?

Hello everyone,

 

I have limited knowledge about labview and have been trying to learn labview through online help and youtube videoes. Now my professor requires me to make a VI that will measure current-voltage (IV Characteristic of a transistor) using Keithley 6487 picoammeter. Unfortunately I have been unable to find any good help/assistance regarding this. 

 

My questions are:

 

1. How will I go about making this program?? (Honestly I have no idea)

 

2. I have to communicate with instrument through GPIB. I don't know how to program this?

 

It seems like i am asking you guys to make VI for me but that is not the case I just need proper direction where I can consult and learn while making the program. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

N6705B connectivity via GPIB interface in UNIX

 Hi

 

i had an N6705B device my requirement is like below

 

  • I need to control this device via an GPIB interface in linux PC.
  • for the above i am using an GPIB to GPIB cable and connected the N6705B and amy linux device.
  • Now i have to connect/login in to the N6705B device and do the settings like setting voltage for the DUT (IC chip) and collect measurement for various test scenarios of DUT.

 

For example i have to set the input voltage as 3.7v to my test device(which is an wifi device) and connect it to an access point(connection will be done manaully) so during the connection stage i have to measure the current consumed by the device (taken across power amplifer). 

 

I think there are SCPI commands whcih i notice in the AGilent 14585 control software which do the same (the software support is there in windows 7 via an GUI), is there any posibility now this commands i can send to the agilent N6705B device by logging into it from a linux PC.

Hi

 

can any one let me know how to send SCPI commands to an agilent device over USB itnerface, i installed USBTMC drivers and the device is listed out in the /dev/usbtmc0,  now i have to send the SCPI commands to fetch the data.

 

A sample command example how to send the SCPI commands.

Ruggeduino With Labview for Production Enviroment?

We are looking at the Arduino and LabVIEW option for a large scale production enviroment, however, I'm a little worried about the protection of the Arduino.

 

I've recently seen the Ruggeduino by Rugged Circuits (http://www.ruggedcircuits.com/ruggeduino) and I'd like to know if the Ruggeduino will work with LabVIEW. The circuitry looks very similar, however the drivers are slightly different. I belive the opperation is the same, and the Ruggeduino will still enumerate as a COM port.

 

Anyone have experience with the Ruggeduino and LabVIEW?

NI-USB-8451 1.8V logic not working - Error

Hello,

 

I have an NI-USB-8451. Using LV13

 

I cannot set up the device using1.8V logic. I get an error on the first argument, which is the logic level. Work fine for 3.3V.

 

My pullup enable also fails, but I gave up on that a long time ago.

 

I have verified that this device support multiple logic levels in the reference manual. 

 

Why cannot I not configure this device for 1.8V logic and pullups? This is rediculous..

 

I am using 2.1.2f version of the drivers, and I can see it in automation and explorer.

 

I can use this day in and day out in 3.,3V logic, just can't set it up for 1.8V logic, or 2.5..so any of the non-defaults, it fails.

Agilent DSO5054 timestamp problem

Hello everyone!

 

I'm using Agilent DSO5054 oscilloscope with LV to measure voltage. I've downloaded the appropriate driver for it, called ag6000a. My computer is connected to the scope trough LAN cable. There is an example VI in the driver, called Acquire Continuous Waveform.vi. Here is my problem, when the LV reads out the waveform from the oscilloscope it should read out the actual start time in a timestamp on every measurement, but it always reads the same timestamp, which is 1904.1.1 00:59:59. I checked the VISA read.vi always reads the same constant value from the oscilloscope. I checked the date and time in the options of the oscilloscope and there the time is at the correct value.

 

How could I fix this problem?

Problems in Installing NI 488.2

Hi,

 

I am trying to install NI 488.2 2.7.3 on Windows XP SP3 (32-Bit). However, during the installation, I am getting  a message of Rolling Back Installation and the installation stops. This occurs in the 'Validating the digital signature' setp of the installation. Can anyone help with the problem?

Errors communicating with my GPIB device in C++

I am trying to communicate with a GPIB device via a custom C++ program.  I am using ni488-2.h and the associated obj file.

 

When I send the commands to the device "manually" through the Measurement & Automation Explorer, everything seems to work fine, consistantly.

 

However, when I try sending commands via code, per the example provided ("Show Sample") button.  Some commands return an error, but not all of them, and not always the same ones.

 

The Measurement & Automation Explorer seems to wait after I send a command, and displays "Reading..." indicating that it is doing some sort of check to ensure there is data to be read...or something.  However the sample code doesn't do this.  It's the only difference I can find, without actually being able to see the code M&A Explorer uses.

 

Any help would be appreciated.

Tektronix AFG 3102 Error

Hello,

 

What does this error mean?

-410,"Query INTERRUPTED"

I'm Using Tektronix AFG 3102 With GPIB and some VIs from the internet.

It keeps popping up for no reason.

I'm new to this so if you could explain slowly and explain the technical terms, I would really appriciate it.

IviSwtch Compliance Test IVI Specific Driver in CVI crashing

I have problem with IviSwtch Specific driver. I have finished all code for this driver and try to test in CVI tool called "Test IVI Specific Driver". Structure and Function panel test runs without any error. Problem is with Compliance test which returns:

 

the driver could not be initialized through the class driver.

Compliance Test was halted.
Error returned: bffa0011
Error Message: Function or method not supported.

 

I tried to add exports to dll in according to this solution http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/1DCA138862E75119862576C5006EA144

After doing this Compliance test just crashing and I have to close it down. 

 

Does anybody met this kind of problem? I would be grateful for any help.

Read parallel port

Hi Everyone,

 

I am trying to read data from the parallel port with VISA.

 

The basics: I'm using a PC running Windows 7, with LabVIEW 2010 (SP1). NI-MAX shows that I have NI-VISA 4.6. I have checked the parallel port in the BIOS and it is set to ECP, which seems (from previous posts) to be the correct setting .

 

MAX shows the parallel port with the VISA alias "LPT1", and says the device is working properly. However, when I use the VISA test panel in MAX to read from LPT1 it returns the error code BFFF0015.

 

A simple VI in LV 2010  that calls VISA Read with "LPT1" (or "ASRL10") as the resource name also fails, returning the error code BFFF0072.

 

I've done this in the past with the "In Port" and "Out Port" functions, but these are no longer available.

IviCounter channel parameters meaning

Hi,

I am looking for some example what meaning have "channels" in IviCounter class in the parameter of functions.

It seems IviCounter class API only expect the instrument to have one counter channel (consisting of source, gate, arm)

because inititate(), fetch() and read() functions do not have "channel" parameter, so it cannot be specified on which channel to measure.

In that case, 'channels' would map to gate, source, arm terminals ?  

 

It is not clear to me why would API functions have the channel parameter but only allow user to read measurement for just one 'active' channel

using the read function.

 

Can anybody advice more comphrensive example tha what's in Labwindows CVI ?

(Basically I am creating IVI specific driver that maps IviCounter class to DAQmx calls for PXI-6612 counter.)

Lack of IviDigitizer class driver in LabWindow/CVI

Hello,

 

I try to create IVI Specific driver in LabWindow/CVI version 9.0.1 for digitizer but I don't see any of this types of instruments. I have installed newest IVI Compliance Package 4.6.1. There is lack of few others IVI class drivers like counter etc. Does anybody know what I should do with this?
