Force a trigger MDO3034

All,

I need to force a trigger from MDO3034 then perform a scope measurement. On the actual scope there is a "Force Trig" button that does exactly that.

My problem is that I am communicating with the scope through driver "Tektronix DPO MSO 2000 4000 Series" obtained from NI website. Have searched directories and tried multiple configure VIs, but nothing worked so far.

Does anyone know if this can be achieved?

Thanks,

Anne

VISA write at constant clock

I am using a PXI 6221 for analog inputs and a PXI 8344/4 to communicate 2 absolute encoders. I have a sample clock runs at 4kHz for my analog inputs. What I need is to send a command to encoders at the beginning of each sample clock cycle. That command is needed to receive the current encoder position which should be synchronized with my analog data. So, I am trying to synchronize the first falling edge of the TX pin with the sample clock; please see the attached pic. Should I use VISA event functions?

Thanks

Does anyone know if the most recent version of the NI-488.2 software works under RHEL 8?  The readme for version 17.0 only says up to Redhat 7.

Thanks.

VISA GPIB class documentation

I am looking for documentation on the properties and methods of the VISA GPIB class.  I have seen this previously on the NI site - a nice interactive documentation page - but can't find it now.  For example, Visual Studio intellisense shows that method IVisaSession.WaitOnEvent() has 5 overloads and I want to see what they are. What the arguments are. And be able to click the argument to see a description of the argument type, such as "EventType".  Where is this documentation?

NI Max Showing Unconnected devices

Hello,

I am still quite new to the labview community but was running into some issues within NI MAX. I am using a Agilent 82357B USB-GPIB connector to communicate with my different instruments. Usually the communication works just fine. The issue I am running into is NI MAX is showing me connections that aren't currently connected. The screenshot below is with no devices connected.

Eugene93_1-1598385173097.png

This can cause NI MAX to time out when opening along with causing it to be very slow. Is there any way to remove these items? I have tried looking on some other threads, using Tools -> reset configuration data, repairing NI-Max using the NI Package Manager, uninstalling NI-MAX and reinstalling it with a new VISA driver install. I am running NI-MAX as Administrator. As a side note I did have to turn on NiVisaTulip.dll. Running NI-Visa 20.0, any help would be appreciated

ENA 5061B - Q values

I am using ENA 5061B Network analyzer with NI instrument driver. I need to build application where I manually enter the 14 frequencies in array and program uses each frequency as a center frequency and zooms on each frequency to get the Q value from the Netwrok Analyzer. But the netwrok analyzer shows only one Q value in the array instead of array of Q values of all 14 frequencies. How can I resolve this? Please help.

but I get two issues: Undefined bymbol : _ibeer/_ibsta.

I've been able to communicate with my device (Chroma 62015L) using the NIvisaic tool.

Please help me and thanks for any answers.

The name you entered is invalid message

This morning we had a corrupt DAQmx data base problem ((Hex 0x8004030F) Thie configuration database cannot be opened, posibly due to corruption) on one of our testers.

I was able to backup the configuration and i selected "Tools > Reset Configuration data" and restarted the computer as suggested.

After restarting the pc i want to rename the 4070 device "PXI1Slot5" to "PXI6::15::0::INSTR"  i get an errormessage "There was a problem saving the settings for this device. The name you entered is invalid".

I don't now why this is not allowed. I am allowed to change it into "Test" for instance but i am not allowed to change it into "PXI6::15::0::INSTR".

Does anyone now what to do in this case ?

Control RS232 equipment through WiFi

Hello

I need to develop an application to remotely control an equipment with RS232 communication port.

The idea is connect a WiFi to serial adapter (http://www.usconverters.com/serial-rs232-wi-fi-adapter) to the equipment and access to it through WiFi network.

According to adapter's manufacturer (U.S. Converters), the adapter has a software utility which creates a virtual COM port in Windows. The virtual COM port can then be used almost as if it was a regular native serial COM port.

Can I use LabView to access to this virtual COM? How can I make it? Or someone have another solution that I can use.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I am trying to connect to a TTI 1906 multimeter using a serial interface
I seem to be able to get a response in the visa test panel when I change the output RTS State to Unasserted and leave the other parameters as default, however, when I try the same thing in a program and get this error:
Error -1073807298 occurred at VISA Read in READ1906-Multimeter.vi
VISA: (Hex 0xBFFF003E) Could not perform operation because of I/O error.

How to install NI-VISA with nipkg CLI ?

$

I am attempting to install NI-VISA solely through the nipkg CLI. I have done a decent amount of reading on online forums and cannot find the appropriate commands required to install it, as such I'm resorting to this forum. When I run: nipkg list, nothing related to NI-VISA shows up. I've attempted using nipkg feed-download to download NI-VISA (obtained from a computer with NI-VISA already installed), without luck. My issue is definitely syntax related but I just can't find the correct syntax to get it to work. Any help is appreciated!

Dear /r/electronics, is anyone interested in a USB-GPIB adapter?

I come to you today to judge your interest in my recent project, a low cost USB-GPIB adapter. I've been working on this for several months now. Its been my introduction to microcontroller programming, PCB design, and surface mount soldering. I'm very pleased with the result.

This project started when I noticed how expensive, and how restricted, the National Instruments and Agilent USB-GPIB adapters were. For Linux, they only provide drivers for Red Hat based distros. Even then, those drivers are crippled compared to the Windows driver (you are not able to use Matlab on Linux to communicate with their driver)! This was a frustration for me in the lab (I'm a physics graduate student in Canada) as I was forced to use Windows for an experiment.

During the summer on my own time, I implemented the GPIB protocol on a PIC 18F series microcontroller. Using a FTDI chip, my adapter allows one to communicate with any connected instrument using any operating system and programming language that supports serial port communication. That makes it ready to go without having to download any drivers on Linux with kernels version 2.6.31 and later!

My goal is to have a thriving business in a few years so that when I finish my graduate studies I can transition to working on it full time.

Communication w/ UTM Shimadzu AG-100kN X plus

Hello everyone, I'm trying to set up a communication with a UTM Shimadzu AG-X plus of 100 kN, in order to remotely be able to acquire data of the standard tests (Forces & Positions) in real-time and to control the start & stop test triggers through LabVIEW. The general idea intended to follow is represented on the link below:

http://www.shimadzu.com.br/analitica/produtos/test/estaticas/servo-eletricas/labview.shtml

However, Shimadzu does not provide the proper drivers to execute what's intended. Is there any other appropriated option  (communication protocols, developing own drivers, GPIB) that someone suggests performing this task?

Thank you for your attention.

HI,

I wanted to access COM port on a remote PC. I know that we have to enable VISA server on the remote PC in order to gain access through labview.

But for some reason, my NI MAX software doesnt show up the VISA server option.

Hello,

I try to drive a 2612 Keithley SMU by Labview (2018, 32 bits). I have Windows 7, and the GPIB interface is KUSB-488B (driver installed).

I passed all the communications tests with Keithley Diagnistics Tools, NI MAX... (see pictures below).

But I failed to drive a query with using Labview.

May someone help me please to solve such an issue? I do not know what is wrong? Where is the issue?

Thank you. Kind Regards,

Sébastien
