There is a similar post...but mine is freezing at silverlight, also at 0%. I tried installing keysight IO, suggested in that similar post, but not work. I tried both NIVISA 18.5 and 17.0...neither worked.

Below is install log (cannot upload files here).

Unable to connect cRIO to NI MAX

Hi,

I have been trying to connect cRIO 9076 in NI MAX but have no luck on it. I tried to reset and/or change the IP address (offline) but still can't get it connect even when I troubleshoot remote system recovery still no luck on connecting it. I'm not sure what have caused the problem.

NI-MAX requires 32-bit VISA, missing in 64-bit installs

I did a fresh, clean install of LabView 2018 and NI-VISA 18.5. Then I run NI-MAX, and I see the error in the screenshot complaining that C:\Windows\System32\visa32.dll is missing.

Of course, the file is there, it's just that the error message is misleading. A little messing around with dumpbin reveals that nimax.exe is a 32-bit executable (I suppose the giveaway was that it was located under C:\Program Files (x86)\), and despite the name, C:\Windows\System32\visa32.dll is a 64-bit DLL. In fact, (believe it or not), the 32-bit compatibility DLLs are supposed to live under C:\Windows\SysWOW64\. That's right, the 64-bit DLLs are under System32 and the 32-bit DLLs are under SysWOW64. As if multilib weren't complicated enough already.

So, my question is, is there any way to coerce the NI-VISA (version 18.5) installer to install the 32-bit libraries in parallel, so that NI-MAX works? I really like that tool.

add instr drivers to labview executable output

Hello,

I have a labview project that uses Lecroy oscilloscopes a Yokogawa wattmeters drivers. My ITD already generated a package to install in our computers labview runtime and asked me to avoid to generate a program installer but generate an executable. Now I have the problem that copying my labview application executable into a pc with labview runtime engine it works but the connections with instruments doesn't work because the PC doesn't have the drivers. Is there a way to add the instruments drivers in the labview executable, or is there a folder in the labview runtime where I can just drop the files? Can I generate a labview installer with just the instruments drivers?

thank you very much for the support

LeCroy WaveRunner 610Zi USB

I have the 'scope mentioned in the subject line connected by USB to a Windows 10 64-bit system with NI-VISA 18.5. When I run NI-MAX, the 'scope shows up in the "Devices and Interfaces" list as VISA resource "USB0::0x05FF::0x1023::3205N59212::INSTR". When I open the VISA Test Panel and try to query the instrument ("*IDN?\n") it fails. Digging deeper with NI I/O Trace, it looks like the first half of the query, a viWrite operation, is failing: 0 bytes out of 6 are transferred.

If I swap in a Tek MDO4104B for the LeCroy, everything works fine.

I tried updating the firmware on the LeCroy 'scope to the latest version (8.7.0.5), and it didn't make any difference.

Has anybody successfully used the USBTMC port on one of these WaveRunner 'scopes?

Visa Error -1073807246

Hello all ,

I am realizing a  simple VI that receives the state of 4 sensors through serial connection , and then displays them as LED outputs .

The problem is that am getting a  " VISA error (Hex 0xBFFF0072) -1073807246 : The ressource is valid but visa cannot currently access it " .

Is it a  VISA driver problem ,  a subVI configuration error or a number of bits compatibility ?

I'm attaching the VI and a screenshot of the bits received on my HyperTerminal .

Any help is much appreciated .

Best regards .

how to debug a PCI resource conflict

$

I have recently replaced the ADLINK PCI-7432 with the NI PCI-6515, these are 2 very similar Digital IO cards.  I was forced to ditch the Adlink card because it's not supported for the more recent versions of LabVIEW.

The NI PCI-6515 works as expected, however, when I make the swap, the card in the next PCI slot, the MOXA 8-port serial card CP-118U disappears from Device Manager.

If I move the MOXA card to an alternative slot, it reappears in Device Manager, but this is not a solution because the cables don't reach to the other end of the large PCI back plane.

I believe this is a PCI resource conflict, how to I debug/fix to make the MOXA card continue working in it's original slot position?

How to achieve fast voltage measure with Keithley 2612

Hello, everyone

I'm working on a project about novel semiconductor and now I have achieved a fast photo-detector (response time within 10us). Now I would like to demonstrate my detector by tracking a fast-moving light-spot.

The problem is the LabVIEW project measure speed is only about 100hz. however, by checking the datasheet of Keithley 2612, under 0.001NPLC setup the I/O speed can reach 8000hz. That confused me a lot.

I have searched the forum and someone said by turn off the auto-zero and auto-range can increase the speed. But those methods can't work.

Here is my LabVIEW project, is there any suggestion for me to increase the measurement frequency to about a few kHz?

Best regards!

Nothing received in VISA serial port buffer

Hi all,

I want to make a VI to read temperature data packages from a serial port. The data is sent from a monitor automatically in a fixed period, so the VI is only required to read data from the serial port.

I have made a VI, which can show the number of bytes at serial port and read all the data once a button is pressed. The problem is that the number of bytes at serial port is always zero no matter how long I have wait before reading. Consequently, no data is read.

Could anyone help me? Thanks a lot!

More information:

1. This VI can work properly when I send data from a virtual serial port created by VSPD software.

2. The serial port seems right in Windows Device Manager. What's more, other software can read data successfully (but I need to process data in LabVIEW).

3. NI-VISA is installed and serial port is configured properly. No error occurs during operation except no data received.

4. My PC is connecting to the monitor via a standard RS-232 interface directly, and no USB-to-RS232 adapter is used.

5. I have study the signal by an oscilloscope and find it is right. (Other software's working properly can also demonstrate this.)

Snipaste_2019-02-28_09-44-30.pngThe button is activated only once although it may be pressed for a while.Snipaste_2019-02-28_09-44-45.pngThe while-loop do nothing when button is unpressed.

Snipaste_2019-02-28_09-46-59.pngOther software can receive data.

Switching a Power Supply ON/OFF through LabVIEW/VISA

$

Hello,

I am looking at controlling an Agilent Power Supply through LabVIEW. I have written a standalone VISA code which allows me to do this (find the attached image). This code allows me to make the power supply output a certain voltage and the return string verifies what voltage the supply outputs.

However, I am now looking at getting this power supply to switch off (i.e. output 0 volts) when any of the 5 temperatures I'm reading exceeds a certain value. Could someone tell me how I can go about adding this new piece of information in the code I have or a basic structure of how it's done?

Thanks

I have to use serial port of PXIe 8135 RT Controller for simulating GPS plant signals for one of the HIL applications. I am trying to use "Instrument Custom Device" downloaded from below

https://github.com/NIVeriStandAdd-Ons/Instrument-Custom-Device

I installed all related packages like Instrument-Custom-Device-Classes-master, VeriStand-Addon-Inline-Async-API-master etc. The LabVIEW version I have is 2018 32 bit. I have LabVIEW RT installed along with application builder.

I am not able to use this package, whenever I am opening the Labview project file (Instrument Addon.lvproj) I can see many items missing.

Can anybody help me understand what is that wrong I am doing? Snapshot of the project view is attached.

IVI Driver, Data Neighborhood, Scales Drop down missing in NI MAX

On a Windows 7 64 Bit PC, we upgraded Visa to 18.0.

We wanted to downgrade to 17.0 so we uninstalled NI-MAX and NI-VISA 18.0, after installing NI VISA 17.0 (which comes with NI-MAX 17.0), we no longer see certain tabs.

We do not see the IVI Driver drop down, Data Neighborhood drop down, or the scales drop down.

What installation are we missing to get these appear in NI MAX?

Note:

We have done the obvious attempts of resetting configuration data and reinstalling EACH and EVERY related IVI driver we had installed prior.

See Picture below for the drop downs I am referencing

Writing waveform to DAC using the USB-8452 via SPI

I'm trying to stream a waveform to an LTC2602 DAC using the USB-8452. I am able to generate a waveform using the SPI Basic VIs but the waveform has a limited frequency because I have to generate the samples point-by-point in LabVIEW.

I'd like to use the SPI Streaming VIs but it appears as if that's only set up for reading (i.e. ADCs).

Is there a way I can generate a continuous streaming waveform, such as a 20kHz sine wave, using the USB-8452?  I'd also like to be able to dynamically change the waveform.
