Looking for connector information

Not sure if this is the right forum, but I didn't see anything else that might do.

 

I have an adapter box that claims to convert an NI 68 pin connector to a different connection.  It contains only a single buffer chip.

 

Pin/signal names are as follows.

1/VCC (+5V)

2 connected to 3

5 connected to 6

9 connected to 13

10/*SWSTRB

11/GND

12/FAILSAFE

16/SDATA (input to buffer)

17/no name, but assuming Read/Write since it enables buffer

23/SDATA (output from buffer and connected serial device

24/GND

39/GND

44/*SRSTRB

45/SCLK

46/GND

50/GND

 

SDATA is a bi-directional line.  This box is connected to another device to program memory in the device.

 

I am hoping to find data on the connections themselves as well as any information on this programming method (timing and use of SWSTB and SRSTB.

perte de communication lors de la création de l'exécutable

J'ai réalisé un programme qui communique avec un régulateur de température en modbus via une liaison usb/rs485. J'ai utilisé un câble usb/rs485 dénudé pour connecter le régulateur (3pins : Data A, Data B et Ground). Mon câble n'est pas un câble NI. J'ai installé le driver de ce câble et mon programme fonctionne bien tant que je suis dans l'environnement labview.

Lorque je crée l'exécutable, mon programme ne parvient plus à communiquer avec le régulateur. Je n'ai pas pu ajouter le driver dans l'installeur (seuls les drivers NI me sont proposés) mais le driver étant toujours installé sur mon pc, pourquoi est-ce que cela ne fonctionne pas?

Modbus Communication between Labview and PIC

Hello.


I need some help with Modbus protocol. My Dissertation is a SCADA system, connecting an emulator of photovoltaic panels (which is implemented with a PIC) and PC with labview 2011 playing the role of Master, with which you configure the PIC, getting value tables curves and / or references, number of panels, etc., and then all this real-time display different emulator output curves IV, PV, alarms, ....
I am using the libraries MB example Example MB serial master (legacy) and I can not know how or where you step format that I have values in a global variable.
I extructurado system as follows:
1. A main saw is responsible for starting all the Vi's, Visor, Modbus and registration.
2. All these values stored in global variables.

3. All is closed with main Vi.


So!! do not know how to send all that data to Mobus or how to organize arrays in global variables!!!
 
I would appreciate the help a lot. Thank you very much.

RS-232 15 pin help

I have a flow meter with and RS-232 15 pin connection, but I don't have a 15 pin connection on my DAQ. Is there an easy way to convert this to a 9 pin or 25 pin connection? Would it be possible to convert it to USB, or another standard? Sorry if this is in the wrong section or if it doesn't make sense, I'm new to instrument control.

Instrument Assistant communicating with pressure gauge, but still getting Error 1073807246 after Win7 conversion

I have a simple .vi that I have used for the last year to communicate with a pressure gauge. All it does is log and plot pressure over time. Our computers just got converted to Windows 7, and now I can't get the .vi to work. I can go into the Instrument assistant and send a command to the gauge, and the gauge will respond appropriately. But, when I run the program, I get no pressure information on my front panel or in my log file.

 

I've searched the error code, and tried several things, including http://www.ni.com/support/labview/visa/verr3.htm. I'm guessing it's a simple fix, I just don't know what it is. Help a beginner out!

cannot talk to a GPIB instrument

Hi,

 

I have a PCI-GPIB card installed in my PC. It controls a GPIB instrument. The PC program is in visual c++. It was working well for a while. A few days ago, the instrument was not responding as I expected. I found that the PCI device was not  recognized in Device Manager. So I tried to install the driver, which is NI-488.2 version 3.1.1. I think I didn't install it successfully. After that I still could not see the controller in Device Manager. So I played with Scan new hardware a few times and then I used "Choose the file myself" and pick a windows default driver. Then I can see the controller in Device Manager. However, I still cannot see this controller in NI's software. It worked for one day and now it stops working again. I think I need to install NI-488.2 properly. I don't know how. I hope there is a step by step instruction somewhere.

 

When I extracted NI-488.2 version 3.1.1, I ran this autorun.exe. Then I chose Install software. Then I chose to install a package for c/c++. What did I do wrong? I don't remember seeing driver mentioned anywhere.

 

 

Please help.

I am trying to setup my network analyzer to take impedance measurement (R + XJ smith chart) of my UUT  , at different fixed frequencies. I need to set my NA to :

 

Network Analyzer settings

  • Format = Smith / R+jX
  • Measure = “S11”
  • Scale = “Auto Scale“,.

“Scale/Div = 1.0000UFS”,
“Electrical delay = 0.0000s”

  • Average = “Average Factor = 2“
    “Averaging = ON”

    “SMO Aperture = 1.5000%”
    “Smoothing = OFF”.
    “IF Bandwidth = 300 Hz”.

  • Center = 30 MHz
  • Span = 0
  • Sweep Setup= “Sweep Time = Auto”
    “Sweep Delay = 0.0000s ”
    “Points = 10”
    “Sweep Type = Lin Freq”
  • Trigger = “Continuous = ON” 
    “Trigger Source = Internal”

Marker = “Marker 1 = ON”
“Ref marker Mode = OFF”

 

 

 

I tried modifying the example program but it doesn't work. please help me if you are familiar with this network analyzer. thanks.

Angle and Strain Measurement

Hey Guys,

 

I'm a LabView newbie and want to program a LabView-VI which should write the measurement of a Heidenhaim angle measurement device and multiple strain gauge strips in one data file like this:

 

angle | strain1 | strain2 | strain3 ...

 

 

The strian gauge strips are connected to the Laptop with NI9237 modules and a NI chassis via USB. The Heidenhaim system is also connected via USB.

 

 

 

Can LabView identify the angle measurement system or do I need additional drivers?

 

I found this post (http://forums.ni.com/t5/Instrument-Control-GPIB-Serial/Heidenhain-ND-287-connect-with-VISA/td-p/2372608) and tried to figure out the given example "Advanced Serial Write and Read.vi". But I would be happy if anybody has more information, examples, codes, etc.

Need help reading harmonics out from Agilent EXA n9010a

Hi, guys,

 

I am trying to read total harmonics distortion data out of agilent EXA n9010a. However, all it displays on the spectrum analyzer is the "sweep SA" operation. What I did is initialize, configure harmonics and read measurement (harmonics). But it does not work when I try to run the program.

Read S11 data from E5071C via TCP/IP

Sorry for my English. I have a problem here. I am trying to read S11 data(array of double) from E5071C,but it doesn't work.

i am using VISA 5.3 for reading my serial device .. my serial device is FISO that device will send four messages for single comand i need all the four messages to be displayed at a same time in VISA SERIAL READ BUFFER

i am using VISA 5.3 for reading my serial device .. my serial device is FISO that device will send  four messages for single command given to that instrument .. and i am reading that messages via  VISA serial READ.. while running the  VI buffer displays the messages individually ..  i need all the four messages to be displayed at a same time in VISA SERIAL READ BUFFER,in order to over come that what block i have to add from the function pallete.

about GBIP and cable for GPIO

Hi all,

  I have an old device using GPIB (HP-IB 488) for data transfer, the bandwidth is not high. It is pretty slow to transfer big data. The device said it also support a high speed cable supporting GPIO port using HP 11738A cable. I try to search for that but I didn't see any cable of that model. Does anyone have any idea about 11738A and how fast could it be comparing to GPIB 488? Thanks.

GPIB Controller for Hi-Speed USB and Licensing policy

Hi,

I wanted to confirm the understanding on the licensing for NI VISA.

 

If I am using NI GPIB Controller for Hi-Speed USB, is the license to use NI VISA are included?  NI 488.2 driver is CD is included along so I guess its licensed.

 

As per licensing policy as long as you use NI hardware the License in included.

Following is the sentence that makes this clear.

 

"Examples of products that include NI-VISA are LabVIEW, CVI, TestStand, NI-488.2, GPIB controllers, PXI controllers, etc. If you are not using any NI software or hardware, you can purchase NI-VISA Development Software separately."

 

So my understanding is NI-VISA and NI 488.2 license is included if using NI GPIB Controller  for Hi Speed USB.

will data transfer in parallel in GPIB interface?

Hi all,

  I have two devices (supporting GPIB) connected in serial and connect to the GPIB interface card. Those two devices have two different addresses and I use VISA module to send data in parallel. But the GPIB cables are connected in serial, so does it mean it will be locked when transferring data to one device? I think GPIB transfer rate is not that low (about 1Mbyte/sec) but it takes so long to transfer 500kB to the device (about 45sec).

Instructions in English and Chinese character in window 7 Labview 2011 SP1

I'm writing a Remote-controlled system that will be used in Hong Kong. I would like to have the instructions in English and Chinese character. I'm using window 7 and labivew 2011 SP1. I have tried to key in chinese word but it always displays ?????.

Sometimes FindResources("ASRL?*INSTR") never returns

I an debugging a C# application where I use

NationalInstruments.VisaNS.ResourceManager.FindResources("ASRL?*INSTR") to find the list of instruments connected to my COM ports. This has worked fine for several years but now, sometimes when I run my application from within Visual Studio (2010), after having halted and recompiled my application, this call will never return. (I have code in destructors for calling Session.Dispose() to release the COM ports properly)

 

I then have to restart the computer to proceed with my debugging. This is off course quite annoying.

 

Drivers: NI Serial 3.9, Visa 5.2.0

OS: Windows XP service pack 3

Computer Dell Optiplex 755
